Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has said that former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has been personally criticizing him after his suspension to make racial remarks against South African fast bowler Andile Phehlukwoyo during his second ODI in Durban last week.
Pakistan's cricket team captain Sarfaraz Ahmed had to face a four-match ban for his racist slur against South African all-rounder Andile Phehlukwoyo during the second match of the one-day series between the two countries. This player also suffered severe backlash by many netizens. Commenting on the matter, former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar had earlier said that Ahmed dropped easily and criticized the captain's comment that such comments were not acceptable in Pakistan. However, Ahmed termed Akhtar's comments as a 'personal assault'.
Akhtar said in a Twitter video, "It is not acceptable as a Pakistani. In my view, he [Sarfaraz] did this, I think he should apologize publicly." He [Shoaib Akhtar] is not personally criticizing me, "for Geo TV. He further said that he has accepted his mistake and thanked his well wishers for his support." I accepted my mistake and got punishment. I want to thank you.
PCB to handle this issue and meet the requirements. I will improve myself and my performance in future and thank my supporters for their support. "
When asked about the decision to recall the country to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the wicketkeeper batsman said that there is no such thing as it has been playing cricket for the last five months and that he will now do some rest.
"I do not see anything because I have been playing cricket for the past five months. I will relax and then play Pakistan Super League.
The player was caught on the stump mike, saying, "Abe Black, your mother is crying? What's the matter today?" (Hey black man, where is your mother sitting today? What [prayer] did you get him to say for you today?). Later, he posted a picture with Khudal Kovai saying that he personally apologized and claimed that he had accepted his apology.
