OnePlus skipped deliveries of the OnePlus 9T this year, but that doesn't mean the company is launching a 2021 smartphone. Today, a reliable leaker put out some images of what appears to be a new budget device from a Chinese OEM.
Steve Hemmerstoffer (via 91Mobiles) has some renders of what appears to be the OnePlus Nord N20. It will be a follow-up to the OnePlus Nord N10, which was launched in late 2020. The Nord N series is where OnePlus leads its budget offerings, and the N10 was at the top of that particular pile.
You can see the render for yourself below. Be warned, however, that those who hate when OEMs copy Apple's designs for the iPhone will be in for a lot of trouble.
Immediately, you'll notice that this could be the first OnePlus phone with flat edges, a trend we first saw in the iPhone 12 series. From the renders, it appears that the glossy look of the iPhone 12 edges also gets transferred to this OnePlus Nord N20.
On the back, the camera lens and formatting also look similar to the iPhone 12 series, albeit without the square cover and with a smaller additional sensor.
Of course, the front looks nothing like an iPhone. Instead there's no notch with the usual left-aligned display cutout. The display is rumored to have a 6.43-inch AMOLED panel with in-display fingerprint support.
There's also a 3.5mm headphone jack, which you certainly won't find on any of the iPhone 12 or iPhone 13 models.
Under the hood, Hemmerstoffer claims that it will be using the Snapdragon 695 chipset, which supports 5G connections. The only other specs Hemmerstoffer is set to reveal are the cameras, which he says are 48MP primary, and a pair of other 2MP sensors.
The phone will likely launch before the end of 2021 and will most likely be launched in the United States among other countries. stay tuned.
