Some Reliance Jio users faced trouble making calls last week due to downtime in services in Mumbai, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh circles. Users complained that they were getting "Not registered on network" message while initiating a call. To address the inconvenience, Reliance Jio is now offering two days of free calling and data services to the affected users.
Essentially, Reliance Jio will extend the validity of your prepaid plan and add two days of credit to the postpaid bills of customers affected by the network glitch last week. According to The Indian Express, Jio is sending out a message to the affected customers, and it reads, "As a goodwill gesture, we are extending a 2-day rental credit which will be automatically applied to your number. Complimentary rental credit will appear on your next bill.
Take it as a compensation that Jio is weeding out those who were left high and dry last week as neither calls were going on nor internet was working. Many users complained about the poor network on Twitter and pulled up Reliance Jio for this. Since other networks, Airtel and Vodafone Idea, were working, people started making comparisons.
While mobile services were widely suspended in some circles, some Jio users complained about their Jio Fiber connection not working. But there is no information about whether Reliance Jio is also compensating its fiber users or not. Jio did not say anything due to the disruption in mobile services in only two circles, while the network was working properly in the rest of the circles.
Separately, Jio was recently asked to finalize its pilot testing of 5G services. A report by 91Mobiles suggested that Jio managed to see download speeds of 420Mbps and upload speeds of 412Mbps on its 5G network, which is 8 times faster and 15 times faster than Jio's 4G network. The government announced that spectrum auction for 5G services will take place this year, while the rollout may start in 2022-23. And Reliance Jio is ready for rollout. In fact, previous reports have suggested that Jio may make 5G-related announcements in the upcoming shareholders' meeting. It is possible that Jio will reveal the 5G launch date then, but there can be no certainty till the auction takes place.
